Outrage in Mexico After Missing Girl Found in Abandoned Lot

She only wanted a piece of candy. Perla Alison, a young girl from the Santa Martha Acatitla neighborhood, asked her family for permission to visit a nearby store. She never made it back home. Days later, the worst fears were confirmed.

Authorities found her lifeless body in an abandoned lot near the Constitución de 1917 metro station, after a neighbor reported a foul odor. Her disappearance had already triggered a nationwide Amber Alert, but the tragic ending shook the entire country.

Officials say the girl showed signs of violence. An investigation into femicide is now underway. Feminist groups and thousands online are demanding swift justice.
