Marking a significant victory for ICE and Trump’s mass deportation agenda, the agency has apprehended roughly 30,000 illegal aliens in the last 30 days, the highest monthly total in at least five years. Not only is this impressive number higher than the 24,000 arrested in May 2025, but it also brings the total number of undocumented immigrants apprehended by the Trump administration up to 250,000.
For context, the recently passed Big Beautiful Bill has significantly increased ICE funding from $2 billion to over $70 billion, enhancing the agency’s ability to keep America safe. Border Czar Tom Homan has announced that he’s aiming for 7,000 deportations a day and further push illegal immigrants to self-deport via the “CBP Home” app.
In any case, explaining his loft goals for deportations, Homan explained the massive crisis facing the nation. He stated, “And for those that say 3,000 a day is too much, I want to remind them, do the math, we have to arrest 7,000 every single day for the remainder of this administration just to catch the ones Biden released into the nation.”
Reacting to the passing of the BBB, and the massive boost to ICE funding, with billions earmarked for hiring new agents, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin explained, “The law will ‘turbocharge’ Trump’s deportation effort.”
Echoing these remarks, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem declared, “This $165 billion in funding will help the Department of Homeland Security and our brave law enforcement further deliver on President Trump’s mandate to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens and MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN!”
As a supplement to traditional deportations, the Trump administration has repurposed an app the Biden administration used to facilitate illegal immigration to promote self-deportation. the DHS reports over 5,000 migrants have already used the app and the agency has promoted the app through fliers and heft fines for non compliant illegals.
Speaking about this program, President Donald Trump said, “Leave now and self-deport voluntarily. If they do, they could potentially have the opportunity to return legally at some point in the future. [Those who do not self-deport] will be found, they will be deported, and they will never be admitted again to the United States.”
To promote the app, the DHS has published flyers encouraging migrants to return to their countries of origin voluntarily. One such flyer said, “Self-deportation is safe. Leave on your own terms by picking your departure flight.” Echoing these sentiments, McLaughlin said, “Illegal aliens should use the CBP Home app to self-deport and leave the country now. If they don’t, they will face the consequences. This includes a fine of $998 per day for every day that the illegal alien overstayed their final deportation order.”
Adding another perspective to the situation, America First Legal Senior Counsel James Rogers explained the complicity of the Biden administration in the migrant crisis. Rogers said, “Our nation’s immigration laws impose severe penalties on aliens who are illegally in the country. The only reason there is a large population of illegal immigrants residing in the United States is because prior administrations have failed to enforce these laws passed by Congress.”
