At this point, I realized that his desire to send me to a nursing home was not to provide me with competent care, but rather to take over my home. I was extremely saddened, struggling to stop myself from crying as I realized that somehow,<\/p>\n
Tyler had turned into a selfish man.\u201dWhere did I go wrong?\u201d I asked myself when I entered my room that night. I believed I\u2019d raised a well-mannered man, but it appears I was mistaken. I never anticipated to be betrayed by my son. Tyler and Macy transported me to a local nursing facility, where they promised I\u2019d receive round-the-clock care from the nurses. Tyler reassured me, \u201cDon\u2019t worry, mom; we\u2019ll pay you visits as often as possible.\u201d Hearing this, I understood that relocating to a nursing home might not be so horrible because they\u2019d already come to see me. Tyler was lying to get me off his back, I had no idea.<\/p>\n
Every day in the nursing home felt like an eternity. Although the nurses were courteous and the other patients were pleasant to converse with, I wished to be with family rather than in a place full of strangers. Without a phone or iPad, I wrote Tyler letters every day, asking him to come visit me or inquire about their well-being. I received neither a response nor a visit. After two years in the nursing home, I lost hope that anyone would come.
\n\u201cPlease, take me home,\u201d I prayed every night, but after two years, I tried to tell myself not to keep my hopes up any longer.One day, however, I was astonished to learn from my nurse that a man in his forties was standing at the counter, looking for me. \u201cDid my son finally come to visit?\u201d I said, hurriedly grabbing my walker and making my way to the front. When I arrived, I smiled because I assumed it was Tyler, but it was actually another man I hadn\u2019t seen in months. \u201cMom!\u201d he shouted out, hugging me tightly.<\/p>\n
\u201cRon? Is this you, Ron? I asked him. \u201cThis is me, Mom. How\u2019ve you been? I apologize for taking so long to visit you. \u201cI just got back from Europe and went straight to your house,\u201d he explained.\u201dMy house?\u201d Did you see Tyler and Macy there? \u201cThey put me in this nursing home a few years ago, and I haven\u2019t seen them since,\u201d I admitted. Ron looked at me sadly and motioned for me to sit.<\/p>\n
We sat in front of one other on the couch, and he began to tell me about what had transpired during the two years I had been in the nursing home. \u201cMom, I am sorry you had to hear this from me. I assumed you already know,\u201d he began to say. Tyler and Macy died in a house fire last year. I just discovered out when I went to your house and noticed it was abandoned. I went to check the mailbox to see if I could gain any information on where you were, and I found all of your unread letters,\u201d he added.I couldn\u2019t believe what Ron was saying.<\/p>\n
Although I resented my son for what he done to me, hearing about his de*th devastated my heart. I grieved all day, mourning him and my daughter-in-law, Macy. Ron never left my side while I cried. He consoled me and remained silent until I felt ready to talk again. Ron was a boy I once welcomed into my home. He and Tyler were close pals who were inseparable as children.<\/p>\n
Unlike Tyler, who had everything he wanted, Ron lived in poverty and was raised by his grandmother after his parents passed away. I treated him as if he were my own kid, feeding and clothing him until he left to attend college in Europe. Ron never returned to the United States after landing a high-paying job in Europe, and we eventually lost touch. I never expected to see him again until he showed up at the nursing home. \u201cMom,\u201d he murmured once I had calmed down.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not believe you belong in this care home. Will you please let me take you home? \u201cI would love to take care of you,\u201d he stated. I could not help but cry once more. My own son had kicked me out of my house, and in front of me stood a man who wanted to take me in despite the fact that I was not his blood kin. \u201cWould you really do that for me?\u201d \u201cOf course, mother. You don\u2019t even need to ask that. You raised me to be the person I am today. Ron hugged me and whispered, \u201cWithout you, I am nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n
That evening, Ron assisted Jude in packing her belongings and welcomed her into his freshly purchased home. There, Jude realized he had a large family, who greeted him enthusiastically.
