a resolution championed by many conservatives disgusted over his handling of the border crisis. Even Sen. John Fetterman compared the embarrassing incident to the Jerry Springer Show.<\/p>\n
Particularly, the event resembled \u201cIdiocracy,\u201d many on X (formerly Twitter) argued, because numerous representatives, namely Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Jasmine Crockett cattily sniped at each other in an argument that turned into a shouting match, with nothing of substance discussed and ridiculous, ad-hominem barbs exchanged.<\/p>\n
As background, \u201cThe Jerry Springer Show,\u201d which Sen. Fetterman compared the incident to, is a decades-running reality show that features ridiculous family and interpersonal drama. <\/p>\n
It is described on Apple TV as \u201cLoaded with bleeped profanity and guests who aren\u2019t afraid to embarrass themselves on national TV, \u2018Jerry Springer\u2019 features a host who is the anti-Oprah, aiming his show squarely at viewers who rubberneck at traffic accidents.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sen. Fetterman, commenting on the embarrassing shouting match and insult exchange in a post on X that included a screenshot of a CNN headline about the ridiculous incident, said that to compare it to the reality show would be an insult to that show. He wrote \u201cIn the past, I\u2019ve described the U.S. House as The Jerry Springer Show. Today, I\u2019m apologizing to The Jerry Springer Show.\u201d
\nRep. AOC then angrily attacked him on X with a wild post in which she bizarrely accused him of not being sufficiently against \u201cracism and misogyny\u201d and suggested that he had become a \u201cbully.\u201d She began by saying, \u201cI understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a \u201cboth sides\u201d issue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Continuing, she said, \u201cBut I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one.\u201d She then suggested that Sen. Fetterman doesn\u2019t stand up for \u201cthe women of Pennsylvania,\u201d writing, \u201cAnd to the women of Pennsylvania: I\u2019d stand up for you too.\u201d She concluded by saying, \u201cEnjoy your Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n
Responding to her attacks in comments to Fox News Digital, Sen. Fetterman\u2019s office did not apologize and instead called the incident \u201cabsurd\u201d and \u201cunhinged.\u201d His office said, \u201cJohn responded to an absurd screaming match of personal attacks in an unhinged House committee hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n
The incident that sparked the fiery exchange began when Rep. Crockett asked Rep. MTG, \u201cDo you know what we\u2019re here for?\u201d MTG fired back, \u201cI think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you\u2019re reading.\u201d House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer pleaded for order as the committee groaned with annoyance at the nonsense.<\/p>\n
Undeterred, Rep. AOC jumped into the fray and snapped, \u201cI do have a point of order, and I would like to move to take down Ms. Green\u2019s words. That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person\u2026 move her words down.\u201d MTG said, \u201cAre your feelings hurt?\u201d and AOC fired back, \u201cOh girl, baby girl! Don\u2019t even play!\u201d<\/p>\n
Rep. Crockett later complained about the incident on X, saying, \u201cSo MTG wanted to talk about my appearance in COMMITTEE?! It\u2019s against the rules to do\u2026She refused to apologize! The chairman ruled that it was ok\u2026AND I asked for clarification about what qualifies as \u201cengaging in personalities\u201d & basically wanted to know if I could talk shit about her appearance as\u2026 well\u2026 y\u2019all know what she looks like, right?
