Independent Senator Bernie Sanders\u2019s harsh words about the Democratic Party\u2019s losses on election night made party leaders even more angry than they were before.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they\u2019re right,\u201d the Vermont senator said in a fiery statement after the election was called.<\/p>\n

Sanders said that the Democratic Party didn\u2019t talk to voters enough about or at all about issues like inflation, historically low wages, AI, sky-high prescription drug costs, sending billions of dollars to Israel\u2019s \u201chorrific\u201d war on Palestine, and widespread corporate corruption.<\/p>\n

Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison took issue with Sanders\u2019 comments, calling them \u201cstraight up BS.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBiden was the most-pro worker President of my life time- saved Union pensions, created millions of good paying jobs and even marched in a picket line and some of [Kamala Harris\u2019s] plans would have fundamentally transformed the quality of life and closed the racial wealth gap for working people across this country,\u201d Harrison tweeted Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Regardless, there is a clear gap between the Democratic Party and the large groups of working-class voters who soundly rejected their plan this election cycle.<\/p>\n

A whopping 67 percent of voters across the country said the economy has been bad for them under President Biden\u2019s direction.<\/p>\n

David Axelrod \u2014 a political analyst on CNN who previously worked for the Obama campaign \u2014 also slammed Democrats by saying they are turning into a \u201csmart-pants, suburban, college-educated party\u201d that could keep losing elections if it doesn\u2019t change.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t approach working people like missionaries and say, \u2018We\u2019re here to help you become more like us.\u2019 There\u2019s a kind of unspoken disdain, unintended disdain in that,\u201d Axelrod, a CNN contributor, said in an interview with the outlet.<\/p>\n

Axelrod praised Biden for doing some \u201cgood things for working people,\u201d but stated that the party as a whole \u201chas increasingly become a smarty-pants, suburban, college-educated party, and it lends itself to the kind of backlash that we\u2019ve seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019s loss, Democrats started pointing fingers at who or what was to blame for the upset. Axelrod weighed in on the defeat alongside CNN\u2019s Anderson Cooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do have concerns about the way the Democratic Party relates to working-class voters in this country,\u201d Axelrod told Cooper. \u201cThe only group that Democrats gained within the election on Tuesday was White college graduates, and among working-class voters, there was a significant decline.\u201d<\/p>\n

Axelrod seemed to agree with Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, when he said that blue-collar workers and other similar voters \u201cfeel like they are thought of as less and that their priorities are not the priorities of the Democratic Party.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has broken his silence after he and Harris went down in historic defeat at the hands of Trump.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a statement\u00a0posted Wednesday\u00a0after Harris conceded the election to President-elect Trump, Walz thanked the vice president for choosing him.<\/p>\n
