We\u2019ve all been there\u2014caught in the crossfire of family jokes that stumble on the edge of playful and annoying. For months, one guy\u2019s sister-in-law had a favorite target: his name. What started as a harmless joke turned into relentless teasing, and he decided enough was enough.<\/p>\n

He explained what happened.<\/p>\n

My wife and I have been together since we were 19 and we\u2019re now 32. I met her family after we\u2019d been together a year. SIL was actually the first. The very first time we met she blurted out that I have a girl\u2019s name (Skye) and then proceeded to laugh about it.
\nMy wife told her to shut up and stop laughing. It didn\u2019t bother me at all back then. I just laughed and told her there are plenty of male Skye\u2019s around, even my great grandfather who I was partially named after. I was named after my great grandpa Schuyler who went by Sky his entire life and Sky Masterson from Guys and Dolls.<\/p>\n

So\u00a0the first time was no\u00a0big deal. Some people have asked me\u00a0before if\u00a0I felt like my\u00a0name was a\u00a0girl\u2019s name and not a\u00a0guy\u2019s name and\u00a0I never minded.<\/p>\n

SIL joked a\u00a0lot about my\u00a0name and our kids\u2019 names when we\u00a0were expecting our babies. It\u00a0got a\u00a0little annoying but you know, I\u00a0was able to\u00a0brush it\u00a0off and my\u00a0wife would cut off her sister and would tell her to\u00a0leave if\u00a0she went a\u00a0little too far which only happened once back then.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0didn\u2019t see her a\u00a0lot for a\u00a0while but she got engaged last year and was around more, and seemed to\u00a0have calmed down a\u00a0lot. And now she\u2019s having her baby, a\u00a0girl, and oh\u00a0boy is\u00a0she testing my\u00a0patience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
