Their first marriage ended in a rough divorce five years ago. I was there through it all-the arguments, the belittling, and the heartbreak. I was proud of my friend for walking away from that toxic relationship.<\/p>\n<div class=\"7rx8wsdw\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1696557\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>A few months ago, she revealed they\u2019d reconnected, gone to therapy, and decided to get married again. She even asked me to be her maid of honor. I tried to keep an open mind and met with her ex, but he brushed me off with dismissive comments about how I had \u201calways meddled\u201d in their relationship. Things came to a head at an engagement dinner. When I told them how I felt, my friend\u2019s ex laughed loudly saying \u201cWhether you come to the wedding or not won\u2019t make a difference,\u201d mocking me.<\/p>\n<p>My friend just sat there, clearly uncomfortable but saying nothing. Later, I told her I couldn\u2019t support this marriage. I love her and want her to be happy, but I can\u2019t celebrate a relationship with someone who treated her and me with such disrespect.
