Fox News liberal commentator Jessica Tarlov has sparked controversy with her remarks about Karen Pence\u2019s interaction\u2014or lack thereof\u2014with Melania Trump during former President Jimmy Carter\u2019s funeral on Friday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Five\u201d co-host referred to the moment when Karen Pence appeared to avoid eye contact or acknowledgment of the Trumps as one of her \u201cfavorite moments\u201d of the event. While Melania Trump kept her composure with a gracious smile, the apparent snub reignited discussions about the strained relationship between the Trumps and Pences.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo favorite moments, definitely [George] W. doing the little tummy pat on Obama, showing a real camaraderie between them. I thought that was very sweet. And the most interesting person to me was Karen Pence, who would not look up at Trump,\u201d Tarlov said during the segment.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was head down, like, \u2018If you think my husband should have been hanged for certifying the election results, I have no time for you,’\u201d Tarlov said, claiming that President-elect Trump expressed support for \u2018hanging\u2019 his then-vice president.<\/p>\n
But that claim comes from former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who made it \u201cwithout providing further evidence,\u201d ABC News\u00a0noted. Trump has denied ever expressing support for \u2018hanging\u2019 Pence.<\/p>\n
Also, Hutchinson\u2019s claims that Trump tried to \u2018commandeer\u2019 the presidential limo from his Secret Service driver the day of the Capitol riot \u2014 Jan. 6, 2021 \u2014 have also been shown to be\u00a0false.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, Mike Pence obviously got up and shook hands, but that\u2019s my take,\u201d Tarlov concluded.<\/p>\n
Her comments were shredded on social media. \u201cAdmiring of disrespect for Trump,\u201d one user\u00a0wrote\u00a0on the X platform. \u201cTummy pat? What is she, a toddler?\u201d\u00a0wrote\u00a0another. \u201cLong TDS,\u201d\u00a0said another, which appeared to combine \u201clong COVID\u201d and \u2018Trump Derangement Syndrome.\u201d<\/p>\n
