South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham has been criticized for claiming that President Donald Trump made a \u201cmistake\u201d his first week in office.<\/p>\n

During an interview on NBC\u2019s Meet The Press, Graham told host Kristen Welker\u00a0that Trump\u2019s pardon of the Jan. 6 defendants was a \u201cmistake.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEven his own vice president said, \u2018If you committed violence on that day, obviously, you shouldn\u2019t be pardoned.\u2019 Do you believe that President Trump was wrong to issue these blanket pardons to the January 6th defendants?\u201d Welker asked.<\/p>\n

Graham answered, \u201cNumber one, he had the legal authority to do it, but I fear you will get more violence. Pardoning the people who went into the Capitol and beat up a police officer violently, I think, was a mistake, because it seems to suggest that\u2019s an OK thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several conservatives on social media didn\u2019t take long to call out Graham.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother RINO that needs to go. Time for the next generation to step in. We need to vote them in,\u201d one user wrote.<\/p>\n

Another user called @chicagopatty1, described as a \u201cFirst generation American,\u201d wrote, \u201cThe mistake is that Lindsey Graham is still in office.\u201d<\/p>\n

User @facedschiff wrote, \u201cThat man is a snake. Wake up people of SC.\u201d<\/p>\n

User @JohnStrandUSA posted, \u201cLindsay Graham is pretending he doesn\u2019t know that most allegations of violence by protesters were false or dishonest & manipulated, and predicated on government entrapment and violent (even DEADLY) police brutality and misconduct. He does know\u2014and he\u2019s a scoundrel. VOTE HIM OUT.\u201d<\/p>\n
