{"id":30820,"date":"2025-02-27T19:36:52","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T19:36:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/popularnews71.net\/?p=30820"},"modified":"2025-02-27T19:36:52","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T19:36:52","slug":"bondi-dismisses-frivolous-biden-era-lawsuits-against-police-fire-departments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/popularnews71.net\/?p=30820","title":{"rendered":"Bondi Dismisses Frivolous Biden-Era Lawsuits Against Police, Fire Departments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi directed the Department of Justice\u2019s Civil Rights Division on Wednesday to dismiss several discrimination lawsuits that had been filed against police and fire departments across the United States under the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/attorney-general-pam-bondi-dismisses-dei-lawsuits-involving-police-officers-and-firefighters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>, the DOJ said the lawsuits went after police and fire departments for using standard aptitude tests in the hiring process. The DOJ said there was \u201cno evidence of intentional discrimination \u2014 only statistical disparities\u201d in the tests, adding that the Biden administration \u201cbranded the aptitude tests at issue in these cases as discriminatory in an effort to advance a DEI agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A lawsuit filed against the City of Durham, North Carolina, last October claimed that the city engaged in \u201cunintentional\u201d discrimination against black candidates. According to the lawsuit, white candidates passed the written test at a higher rate than black candidates, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/ag-bondi-dismisses-dei-lawsuits-brought-against-four-police-fire-departments-biden-administration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported by Fox News<\/a>. In another lawsuit, the Maryland State Police were accused of \u201cillegally discriminating against Black applicants and women\u201d because the Civil Rights Division concluded that \u201cBlack applicants passed the test less often than White applicants and because women passed the physical test less often than men.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Similar lawsuits were filed against South Bend, Indiana, and Cobb County, Georgia, according to Fox News. However, per Bondi\u2019s directive on Wednesday, those cases will be dismissed. Bondi blasted the previous administration\u2019s focus on DEI policies, saying, \u201cAmerican communities deserve firefighters and police officers to be chosen for their skill and dedication to public safety \u2013 not to meet DEI quotas.\u201d The DOJ added that the \u201cdismissal is an early step toward eradicating illegal DEI preferences across the government and in the private sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration is also aiming to eliminate DEI positions and programs in the federal government. \u201cThe Biden Administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs, going by the name \u2018diversity, equity, and inclusion\u2019 (DEI), into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military,\u201d a day-one\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/ending-radical-and-wasteful-government-dei-programs-and-preferencing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">executive order<\/a>\u00a0from Trump stated.
