Then, suddenly, she told him she could fly out and meet him in\u00a0a\u00a0month. At\u00a0the time, he\u00a0lived in\u00a0the basement of\u00a0his folks\u2019 place\u2014not something he\u00a0had disclosed earlier in\u00a0their chats. In\u00a0a\u00a0panic, he\u00a0got a\u00a0new apartment.<\/p>\n

Then he\u00a0went to\u00a0one of\u00a0those furniture rental places and rented an\u00a0entire apartment\u2019s worth of\u00a0furniture: a\u00a0couch, tables, a\u00a0dining set, a\u00a0bedroom suite, a\u00a0TV, etc. The whole apartment was filled with rental furniture, which, if\u00a0you don\u2019t know, gets expensive really quickly. So\u00a0after all this, the girl finally showed\u00a0up. They went to\u00a0his apartment, and that\u2019s when she told him that they should break\u00a0up.<\/p>\n

She didn\u2019t want to\u00a0do\u00a0it\u00a0over text and without meeting him at\u00a0least once. She thought it\u00a0wouldn\u2019t be\u00a0fair to\u00a0him. She stayed one night and got on\u00a0the plane the next day. Apparently, her stop in\u00a0our city was just an\u00a0extended layover as\u00a0she was heading to\u00a0Europe to\u00a0tour with friends.<\/p>\n

She slept in\u00a0the rental bed, and he\u00a0slept on\u00a0the rental couch. The next day, he\u00a0drove her to\u00a0the airport in\u00a0his rental car. I\u00a0wasted my\u00a0money on\u00a0a\u00a0\u201cfree trial\u201d of\u00a0a\u00a0muscle-building supplement. I\u00a0was in\u00a0my\u00a0first year of\u00a0college and decided\u00a0I wanted to\u00a0get in\u00a0better shape but didn\u2019t know where to\u00a0start. I\u00a0clicked an\u00a0ad\u00a0saying it\u00a0could help build muscle fast, got my\u00a0free bottle in\u00a0the mail, and started seeing a\u00a0bunch of\u00a0weird charges on\u00a0my\u00a0card. They didn\u2019t charge for that first bottle, but they charged a\u00a0subscription fee.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0immediately called the bank to\u00a0have my\u00a0card blocked, but by\u00a0that time, I\u00a0was out something like $100 that\u00a0I couldn\u2019t afford as\u00a0a\u00a0student. I\u00a0kept getting spam calls too and had to\u00a0tell the rep very firmly that\u00a0I wanted to\u00a0be\u00a0unsubscribed.\u00a0\u00a9\u00a0Hoguera\u00a0\/ Reddit<\/p>\n

When I\u00a0was a\u00a0recent graduate, I\u00a0was scammed by\u00a0an\u00a0insurance company. I\u00a0was just so\u00a0happy to\u00a0be\u00a0hired by\u00a0anyone that\u00a0I was duped into thinking\u00a0I could make money by\u00a0selling people insurance they didn\u2019t want or\u00a0need.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0paid $350 for a\u00a0textbook for an\u00a0exam to\u00a0become certified. Although I\u00a0passed the exam, I\u00a0realized within a\u00a0week that the company was a\u00a0scam\u2014complete with a\u00a0ridiculous script that, if\u00a0we\u00a0went off\u00a0it, we\u00a0would get in\u00a0trouble\u2014and cold calling.
