A distraught father, whose daughter is currently listed as one of the several people missing due to the floods in Texas, has described how his search resulted in the unintentional discovery of a small child\u2019s body.<\/p>\n
According to officials, the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet in 45 minutes after an unexpected storm during the July 4 weekend deposited an incredible 15 inches of rain into the river. Emergency personnel have rescued 850 people from the Texas floodwaters, but 82 Texans have d**d and 41 are still believed to be missing.<\/p>\n
Ten children and one counsellor have gone missing after Camp Mystic, a Christian girls\u2019 camp located along the Guadalupe River, flooded, and rescue crews are currently searching for them around-the-clock.<\/p>\n
Ty Badon is a distressed father who is still searching for his missing child.<\/p>\n
After hearing nothing from his daughter Joyce Badon, 21, for days, Badon and her brother travelled to Hunt, Texas, in an attempt to locate the college-aged woman.<\/p>\n
Badon told CNN that he and his son \u201cstumbled\u201d across a child\u2019s body after yelling out his daughter\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
It is known that the unnamed child was ensnared in the devastating flash floods.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy son and I were walking and I thought it was a mannequin. It was a little boy, 8 or 10 years old, and he was d**d,\u201d Badon explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were just walking, doing the same thing we were doing when we stumbled across him.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully we can find our children, my daughter and her friends alive,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
During the show, Badon asked CNN viewers to \u201cpray\u201d for his family before praising the \u201cexcellent work\u201d being done by those at Ingram Elementary School in spite of the bad weather.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re the place where all the survivors are brought and we were hoping to hear our daughter and friends names call, but they never did call. So, we said \u2018we\u2019re going to come out and find them ourselves\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Joyce was a \u201cbeautiful, wonderful girl,\u201d the pleased father continued, adding that he couldn\u2019t have hoped for a \u201cbetter\u201d child.<\/p>\n
Before the Guadalupe River overflowed its banks, Joyce and her three friends\u2014Ella Cahill, Aidan Heartfield, and Reese Manchaca\u2014were living in a house by the river, according to publications.<\/p>\n
The house where the foursome, who have not yet been located, were staying is reportedly \u201cno longer there.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement shared on Saturday (July 5), Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said, \u201cWe continue to have hundreds of first responders on the ground, air and water in the process of search and rescue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some Texas officials have accused the National Weather Service (NWS) of lacking warnings about the unfavourable weather because of budget cuts imposed by the Trump administration.<\/p>\n
It is acknowledged that several posts at the San Angelo and San Antonio local NWS offices were unfilled.<\/p>\n
A w*rning coordination meteorologist was one of them. According to the New York Times, the individual who held this position before departed earlier this year after accepting an early retirement package provided by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).<\/p>\n
