\nA TikTok creator unknowingly filmed what could have been a fatal encounter after picking up one of the most venomous creatures on the planet without realizing the danger she was in.
\nIt might sound like something straight out of a horror movie, but for one TikToker, this terrifying situation was all too real. She innocently recorded herself collecting seashells by the water\u2019s edge, not knowing the potential risk right in her hand.Beckylee Rawls shared the now-viral video on TikTok. In the clip, she is seen calmly strolling along a beach in Okinawa, Japan, when she bends down to pick up a shell from the sand.<\/p>\n

She then holds the shell up to the camera to show it off before gently setting it back down. At the time, she had no idea that she was just moments away from what could have been a life-threatening situation.
\nIn the caption of her TikTok post, she reflected on the encounter, writing: \u201cLast time I ever pick up a cone shell barehanded\u2026\u201dThe clip left a lot of viewers completely stunned once they realized just how dangerous that seemingly harmless shell really was.
\nIn a follow-up video, Beckylee explained how it all happened. She said: \u201cYep, that was me picking up a marbled cone snail \u2013 one of the deadliest creatures on Earth. Had no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was out tidepooling in Okinawa, Japan, and I came across this shell.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you can see, it\u2019s one of my favourite shells to collect because the pattern is so stunning.\u201d
\n\u201cSo I pick up the shell and that\u2019s when I noticed the shell\u2019s alive, and the black and white tube you see is the snail\u2019s siphon which it breathes out of.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is also the end of the snail that shoots a harpoon to sting and inject its victims with venom.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was playing with the most venomous creature in the ocean that can lead to full paralysis or fatality.\u201d
\n\u201cI hope my story spreads awareness that not all pretty shells are harmless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hundreds of users flooded the comment section, reacting to how close she came to danger. One person expressed concern by saying: \u201cCone snails are one of the deadliest animals out there; I\u2019m hoping you\u2019re fully recovered.\u201d<\/p>\n
