A deeply disturbing case in\u00a0Liverpool\u00a0has brought renewed focus to youth violence, after two teenage brothers,\u00a0Connor and Brandon Doran, along with friend\u00a0Simon Evans, were convicted for the tragic killing of\u00a0Kevin Bennett, a vulnerable man experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n
Mr. Bennett, 53, was sleeping behind a supermarket when the boys launched a 20-minute attack that would ultimately claim his life. The man, who had spent the evening at a local pub, was left severely injured and died six days later due to complications from his wounds.<\/p>\n
A Family History of Violence<\/p>\n
Tragically, the brutal act wasn\u2019t an isolated event within the Doran family. While Connor and Brandon were being questioned, their\u00a0older brother Ryan\u00a0was preparing for trial on a separate murder charge. Ryan Doran had earlier launched a fatal, unprovoked attack on 42-year-old\u00a0Wayne Mitchell.<\/p>\n
Their\u00a0mother, Linda Doran, was later jailed for\u00a0providing a false alibi\u00a0for her sons, obstructing the police investigation. Another brother,\u00a0Jordan Doran, was sentenced for contempt after using a phone to take pictures during court proceedings.<\/p>\n

On August 17, 2012, Kevin Bennett was targeted as he slept in an alley near County Road. Encouraged by Connor Doran, Simon Evans delivered multiple blows while Brandon acted as lookout.
