The girl reached out with trembling fingers \u2014 and the dog didn\u2019t twitch, didn\u2019t snap, only allowed the gentle touch. She exhaled deeply and, incredibly, drifted into sleep at the girl\u2019s feet.<\/p>\n

The hall was utterly silent. Nobody believed what they saw. Someone even whispered:<\/p>\n
