Back at our seats, my daughter leaned her head on my shoulder.<\/p>\n

I realized then that this moment, awkward and messy as it was, had become something beautiful.<\/p>\n

The girl knew she could count on me \u2014 and that was all that mattered. \u201cThanks, Dad,\u201d she whispered as she closed her eyes. I kissed the top of her head. \u201cAlways, kiddo.\u201d<\/p>\n

The plane hummed steadily through the clouds, carrying us forward, but I knew in my heart we had just crossed an invisible milestone together.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
