Cheney, the 46th Vice President of the United States, served alongside President George W. Bush for two terms, from 2001 to 2009.<\/p>\n
Per a family statement, Cheney died \u201cdue to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.\u201d The former vice president was struggling with cardiovascular disease for large parts of his adult life.<\/p>\n
He survived several heart attacks and had a heart transplant in 2012. Two years later, he hailed the transplant as \u201cthe gift of lite itself.\u201d<\/p>\n
