The blanket was shaking.<\/h1>\n

Not in a guilty, tangled way\u2014but like two people trying very hard not to burst out laughing. They looked less like conspirators and more like children caught mid-prank.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is going on?\u201d I asked, my voice sharper than I intended.<\/p>\n

My sister bit her lip, trying\u2014and failing\u2014not to grin.<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay, okay,\u201d she said finally. \u201cDon\u2019t freak out.\u201d<\/p>\n

With exaggerated drama, she pulled the blanket down.<\/p>\n

Underneath, they weren\u2019t naked.<\/p>\n

They were wearing matching T-shirts.<\/p>\n

Bright, ridiculous, custom-printed T-shirts.<\/p>\n

Mine read: \u201cWorld\u2019s Best Wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hers read: \u201cWorld\u2019s Best Sister.\u201d<\/p>\n

My husband lifted his arms like a game show host revealing a prize. \u201cSurprise?\u201d<\/p>\n

For a second, I just stood there, processing. My brain had been racing toward betrayal, heartbreak, divorce papers\u2014and instead I was staring at neon fabric and two very proud faces.<\/p>\n

My sister burst out laughing first. \u201cWe were trying to hide them until tomorrow! I ordered them weeks ago. But when you walked in, we panicked and dove under the blanket so you wouldn\u2019t see.\u201d<\/p>\n
