I signed it simply, Clara. I hit send. Then I created a filter to send any future emails from her or any similar addresses directly to the trash, unread. I blocked her on every platform. I severed the final toxic tie.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s been 2 years since that day. My life is good. It\u2019s more than good. It\u2019s mine. Gus is snoring at my feet as I write this. My career is thriving. I\u2019m in a loving, healthy relationship with a man who respects me, a man who finds my independence to be my most attractive quality. I speak to my dad every week. I have not spoken to my mother or my sister since that awful day in my old living room.<\/p>\n
