In 10th grade, my physics teacher constantly embarrassed me whenever I got an answer wrong, until one day I snapped and told him he was terrible at teaching. A week later, he returned my midterm with a huge red circle and \u201cSee me,\u201d so I assumed I had failed. Instead, he showed me that I had barely passed\u2014and beside every wrong answer, he had written detailed explanations, far more than anyone else received. He told me, \u201cYou\u2019re smart, but you panic. I\u2019m hard on you because you can take it.\u201d I told him he didn\u2019t need to be that hard, and he simply replied, \u201cFair.\u201d After that, he stopped humiliating me in front of the class, and I stopped pretending I didn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n
