Police reported that the bus was en route to a Carberry casino. Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill confirmed, “At least 15 individuals were pronounced dead.” The bus had around 25 passengers, with ten others hospitalized. Both drivers survived, but the cause remains undisclosed.

Images from the site showed destroyed wheelchair seats and walking frames near the covered bodies. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau extended condolences to the victims’ families, and Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also expressed her sympathy
