In a razor-thin contest, Decision Desk HQ has projected a win for Republican Rep.

Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District, marking a critical hold for the GOP.

As of 10:10 AM EDT, Miller-Meeks is projected to have secured 50.1% of the vote, narrowly surpassing Democratic challenger Christina Bohannan, who received 49.9%.

This victory strengthens the GOP’s prospects for reclaiming a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

With Miller-Meeks’ victory, Republicans move closer to reclaiming a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. In this tightly contested race, Miller-Meeks edged out Bohannan by a slim margin of 206,669 votes to Bohannan’s 205,874—a difference underscoring the competitive nature of this pivotal seat.

Sixty-nine-year-old Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who has represented her Iowa district since her narrow 2020 victory, has retained her seat in one of the most critical races for Republicans aiming to secure House control. Known for her healthcare reform stance, Miller-Meeks holds a district that often swings between parties, making her win pivotal for the GOP.
