How to Keep Fresh Eggs Safe

Eggs are a common food in many homes, but they need to be stored properly to stay fresh and safe. There are things you need to know to keep eggs fresh for longer, whether you buy them from a farm or a store.

Keeping eggs in the fridge at a steady temperature between 35°F and 40°F is the best way to store them. This will help them stay fresh for three to five weeks. Also, it’s important to keep them in their original box to keep smells from getting out.

Eggs that have been hard-boiled can be kept in the fridge for up to a week in containers that have lids. Before putting cooked eggs in tight bags, they should cool all the way down, like with scrambled eggs or omelettes. They’ll last three to four days in the fridge.

If you don’t open them, liquid eggs that are used in cooking can last up to a week past their “sell-by” date. But you should use them within two days of opening them. When properly packed and kept in the fridge, egg substitutes can be kept for 10 to 14 days. They are often used in baking.

It’s important to keep eggs below 40°F to stop germs from growing and getting people sick. In warmer places, it’s important to be careful about leaving egg-based meals out at room temperature, where bacteria like to grow.

To find out if an egg is still fresh, all you have to do is the “float test.” If the egg falls to the bottom of the dish of water, it’s still fresh. If it floats, though, it might be older.

Keeping eggs safe and fresh for longer by following these easy keeping tips will let you enjoy them for longer.
