I Want My Stepdaughter, 25, Out — My House Is Not a ’’Charity Center’’

My stepdaughter, 25, is still “not ready” to leave her dad’s house. I am 7 months pregnant, and I need her room for my baby; otherwise, he won’t have a place. So I packed her things and said, “Grow up or go find a charity center to take you in! This house isn’t your free hotel anymore.” That night, my husband didn’t come home. I thought he was just mad at me.

But then I got a call from my stepdaughter. I froze when I realized that he was with her and that he is going to rent an apartment for her. She sounded so smug as she shared the news, which only made me angrier. For the past year, I’ve been asking my husband for a bigger house, but he kept saying we couldn’t afford it. I was horrified when I found out that he’s willing to use our savings to pay for an apartment for his adult daughter. She’s 25-old enough to take care of herself-yet she’s still exploiting her dad. That money should be going toward me and the baby, not her rent!

What do you think I should do? Am I overreacting, or is my anger justified?
