The Son Was Ashamed of Me and Said: ’I don’t want people to think we came together’, so I Repaid Him in the Same Manner

My 14-year-old son has been ashamed of my husband and me for about two years, and it’s only getting worse. He tells us not to come to his games or leave him in front of places, and treats us horribly unless we do what he wants.

Recently, after I picked him up from an event, he made me wait a block away, then slid down in the car when he saw his friends.

I finally snapped and treated him the same way, pushing his head down in the car and asking him to stay behind me at the store.

I even told him I was embarrassed by him. My sister thinks I should be more understanding, but after almost two years of this, I’m frustrated. Am I wrong for doing this?
