Ilhan Omar Shredded After Appearing To Call Americans Who Supported Trump Stupid

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) claimed that President Donald Trump won a second term due to the growing “stupidity” of both American voters and members of Congress, during her latest appearance with disgraced former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan. The ‘Squad’ Democrat is now facing backlash online for suggesting that Trump’s re-election in November was the result of a less intelligent electorate—a sentiment she claims is reinforced daily through her interactions with colleagues and constituents.

“These people are just idiots,” Omar said, shaking her head while speaking with host Ari Melber. Smiling, she added, “I’m at the point where it’s become hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people because the level of stupidity they are displaying every single day is frankly embarrassing, not just in Congress but as Americans.”

The far-left’s inability to understand President Trump’s appeal has been a recurring theme in the 2024 election and its aftermath. In Minnesota—the state Omar migrated to—Trump narrowed the gap against former Vice President Kamala Harris, reducing her lead from 7 points in 2020 to just 4 points. Trump even managed to flip the home county of Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate.

But for Omar, none of that seems to matter. “The fact that these people are allowed to say the most ridiculous things tells you that the dumbing of the United States has arrived, because how else did we get the Trump presidency again?” she asked Hasan. Matt Walsh, a conservative influencer, criticized a Minnesota Democrat for disparaging the country that welcomed her after she fled war-torn Somalia as a teenager.

“It continues to amaze me that Ilhan Omar has such contempt for our country. She comes from Somalia, where the average IQ is 68 (likely due at least in part to the prevalence of in-breeding in her culture). It also consistently ranks as one of the most violent and dangerous and poorest countries on Earth. Yet she looks at our country with snobbish disdain,” he wrote on X.

Part of Omar’s appearance on the left-leaning network was ostensibly to push back against resurfaced allegations that she legally married her brother to circumvent federal immigration laws and help him stay in the U.S. A member of Minnesota’s Somali community recently came forward, claiming that Omar concealed her marriage to her “effeminate” brother by opting for a Catholic priest to officiate the ceremony—rather than a Muslim officiant, as she had done in her first marriage.

Omar has repeatedly dismissed these accusations as “baseless” and “absurd,” accusing Republicans and her political opponents of engaging in racism and Islamophobia by promoting the claim. However, last month, The New York Post reported that the FBI has launched an investigation into Omar’s marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, with a “trove of documents” reportedly handed over to federal agents.

If evidence confirms immigration fraud, the case would be referred to U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE). Under federal law, falsifying a marriage to evade immigration laws carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Earlier this month, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) circulated a petition calling for Omar’s deportation, citing her recent advice to illegal immigrants on how to evade capture by ICE. “America would be a better place if Ilhan Omar were deported back to Somalia,” Gill wrote in an email to supporters.
