“I’m sorry. I hate fighting with you. I can’t sleep without you.”

I stayed still, not wanting to break the moment — not yet. My heart softened instantly, but I kept my eyes shut, letting the words settle.

Then I felt him gently kiss my forehead.

He stood there for a second longer, sighed, and walked out quietly.

I waited until I heard the door click shut… and smiled through quiet tears.
