I Took a DNA Test for My Baby After Being Accused of Ch3ating and Accidentally Revealed My MIL’s Dark Secret

Relationship trust can be significantly impacted by accusations of adultery. When a woman’s baby’s odd eye color raised suspicions of infidelity, she was subjected to similar charges. But when the mother decided to get a DNA test to prove herself, she learned something surprising.

A Redditor shared the discovery of a hidden family secret from the past.

I, a 25-year-old female, gave birth to my daughter 2 months ago and despite my husband (28) telling me he knows I’d never che:at on him, I wanted to give our daughter a paternity test.

Why? She has green eyes, yet none of my family members have them, including my husband, me, my parents, and my in-laws. I requested the test for my husband’s comfort, but he claimed it was probably some strange genetic condition.

His mother and the rest of his family members continuously making remarks about our kid’s eyes, suggesting that I might be cheating. Even my family thinks it strange that our daughter has green eyes. He continued to refuse because he believes in me. I finally got enough of his family’s remarks and informed my husband that I needed the test, even though he tells me to ignore them since he knows I would never ch3at.

He only agreed to get me to calm down and, well, our daughter is his, but my FIL isn’t my husband’s father.

My in-laws have been married for decades, so the idea that my MIL che:ated on my FIL never crossed either of our minds. My husband wants to deal with his mother, but I’m telling him to wait, that yes, she’s a liar and a hypocrite, but we need to think this through.

For illustrative purpose only

I agree that my FIL should be aware, but we’re both exhausted from caring for a newborn, we’ve learned something startling, and we’re not acting logically.

He and I both want to inform his father, but there will be catastrophic consequences. I only intended to provide him comfort, but instead I caused his parents’ marriage to fail and may have destr0yed his family.

We conducted two tests: an ancestry test and a paternity test. I wanted to find out if my daughter’s eye color could have been produced by a relative we were unaware of.
