My husband tells me, ‘You should be nice to them; they helped us buy the house.’

Recently, I’ve been going out right away whenever they showed up.

But yesterday, I came back home earlier than usual.

My husband went pale the moment he saw me.

“We didn’t mean to upset you. We came to share something important. These are memories of your husband’s grandparents stories, letters, and pictures from the past. We’ve been keeping them for years, but we thought it was finally time to pass them down.”

My husband sighed in relief and explained,

“I didn’t tell you because I wanted it to be a surprise. They’ve been working on a family history project, and they’ve been bringing things over bit by bit.”

I felt my anger melt away when I looked at the faded photos of smiling faces, handwritten recipes, and heartfelt letters.

I realized my in-laws weren’t trying to intrude they were trying to connect and share love through memories.
