Texas Father’s Final Voicemails to His Kids Before Flood Took His Life

When severe flooding hit Kerrville, Texas, Jeff Ramsey found himself trapped in his RV alongside his wife, Tanya. Realizing they might not survive, Jeff left emotional goodbye voicemails for his children, 24-year-old Jake and 23-year-old Rachel. His voice, usually calm and strong, was filled with fear as he told them he loved them and didn’t think they would make it out. Tragically, both Jeff and Tanya lost their lives that night.

The couple had little warning. An evacuation alert from the RV park came just as floodwaters overtook their vehicle. Despite the danger, Jeff made calls to help others, including Tanya’s brother and mother, ensuring they escaped. His son Jake later shared that without Jeff’s quick actions, they too might have been lost. Jeff’s final act was one of selflessness, even in the face of overwhelming danger.

Tanya, who had been battling breast cancer, had recently shared her journey publicly. In an interview earlier that year, she spoke about the challenges of chemotherapy and the support Jeff provided. Through her treatment, she remained hopeful, calling the process humbling and transformative. Jeff, who worked at a local gym, often told stories of everyday miracles and believed in helping others in any way he could.

To their children, Jeff and Tanya were more than parents — they were role models of resilience and love. Jake recalled Tanya treating him and his sister as her own, and Jeff inspiring others through kindness and service. Though their loss is devastating, their legacy lives on in the lives they touched and the love they gave so freely.
