My Dad Shattered My Mom with His Affair — Now He Wants Her Legacy to Save His Mistress’s Child

I thought my family was perfect. Dad came home every day at 6 p.m. sharp. We ate dinner, laughed, and talked about our day. But at 25, everything fell apart.

One morning, Mom sat me down, her eyes red. “Your father’s been seeing someone else… for eight years,” she whispered. “He has a daughter. Her name is Mya. She’s seven.” I was stunned. All those “business trips” had been lies. My mom immediately filed for divorce, and thanks to a prenup, she kept everything she had brought into the marriage.

Dad moved out. He didn’t fight it. I tried to stay neutral. Mom told me…Mom told me, “You can choose your own relationship with your father.” But every time I looked at him, I saw betrayal. Years passed. Mom threw herself into her work and built an amazing consulting business. Then came the cancer diagnosis. It was fast. Brutal. Within three months, she was gone.

She left everything to me her house, her savings, her business. “You stood by me. Use this wisely,” she’d said before she passed. I was finally financially secure. Then, one day, Dad called. He looked worn when we met. “Mya’s very sick,” he said. “She needs treatment. $60,000. We’ve tried everything. Please, Julie.” I was stunned. “You want me to use Mom’s money?” “She’s your sister,” he said. “Family helps family.” “She’s not my responsibility,” I said. “You made your choices.”

“If you don’t help, don’t call me again,” he snapped. “You’re no daughter of mine.” He hung up. Soon, the rest of the family came after me calling me cruel, heartless. But I remembered what Mom always said: “Don’t let guilt force you to betray your values.” I blocked them all. I sat in Mom’s old chair, holding her favorite coffee mug. My hands shook. My heart ached. But I knew deep down: I had honored her memory. I had protected what she worked so hard for. And I refused to let the man who broke her heart break me, too.
