In that moment, the flutist realized the boy’s mother couldn’t afford a wheelchair. She carried her son through the city, despite her own exhaustion. Without a second thought, the flutist pushed through his pain, stood up from his chair, and handed it to her. “It’s just an accessory,” he said with a grin. “I don’t really need it. I’m not disabled,” he lied. He didn’t expect that five years later, on that same square, the boy would return to find him. But this time, the boy looked completely different. And he came back for one reason: to thank the flutist for his life-changing kindness. “YOU?” the old man asked the boy once he approached. ⬇
