Three years passed like that. Eleanor woke up early every morning to clean, cook, babysit, and care for everyone while Daniel and Emily built their careers and social lives. No one asked whether she was tired. No one asked whether she was happy.

Then one evening, Emily celebrated a huge promotion at work. The entire family dressed up and left for an expensive restaurant downtown. Eleanor stayed home alone after spending the day cleaning the house and watching the children.
