I BAKED HIM A CAKE THE DAY HE DESTROYED HIS OWN LIFE

I placed another folder on the counter containing the restraining order petition, financial records, and fraud evidence. Evan stared at it in disbelief while Marissa slowly turned pale. Then I asked her directly whether she helped scan my driver’s license for the forged documents.

The officers immediately shifted their attention toward her. Panic spread across both their faces at once. Evan suddenly lunged toward the paperwork, but Officer Lewis pinned him against the counter before he could touch it.

The handcuffs clicked shut seconds later. Evan screamed that I was cruel, insane, and a terrible mother while neighbors peeked through windows and onto porches. For once in my life, I didn’t lower my head in shame.
