My Mother-in-Law Reminded My Husband What Real Care Looks Like..

Lately, my husband had been telling me that I had “neglected myself.” As a mother of three young children, my days were filled with caring for our family, leaving little time or energy for salon visits, fancy clothes, or perfect nails. My priorities had simply changed.

When my mother-in-law came to visit, my husband complained to her, saying that I had stopped taking care of myself. He seemed to expect her to agree with him, but instead, she surprised us both with her response.

She looked at him and asked, “Do you take care of her? Where are the flowers, the thoughtful gifts, or the meals you’ve cooked so she could rest? If you want her to feel cared for, start by caring for her yourself.”

Her words completely changed the conversation. My husband stopped criticizing my appearance and finally understood that feeling appreciated and supported starts with partnership. Sometimes the best reminder comes from someone who isn’t afraid to tell the truth.
