A Georgia community is mourning the sudden death of Emersyn “Emmy” Bridgers, a young Euharlee Elementary School student who died on July 27, just days before she was expected to begin first grade.
Her family said she died after what was expected to be a routine medical procedure, but officials later clarified that a planned tonsil-related surgery did **not** take place.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an autopsy, while the Bartow County Coroner’s Office is awaiting medical records to determine what happened before her death.
Teachers remembered Emmy as a kind and caring child who made others feel welcome, and her family and community continue to mourn her loss as the investigation remains ongoing.
