James Ransone (1979–2025) was a versatile character actor from Maryland whose performances brought intensity, vulnerability, and individuality to a wide range of television and film roles.
He became especially well known for playing Ziggy Sobotka in HBO’s The Wire, portraying the complicated and troubled character with a deeply human vulnerability that made him memorable to audiences.
