The laundry room showdown: can you

Kitchen and bath towels may look similar, but they often collect different types of dirt: kitchen towels can carry food residue, grease, and bacteria from raw meat, while bath towels mainly absorb moisture, body oils, and dead skin. However, they do **not need to be washed separately every time**. You can safely wash them together when using enough detergent, a warm or hot cycle, and thorough drying, while avoiding overloading the machine so water and detergent can circulate properly. The main exceptions are \

kitchen towels that have touched **raw poultry, pork, or beef**, which are better washed separately to reduce the risk of cross-contamination, as well as heavily greasy towels that could spread grease to other fabrics. So, washing kitchen and bath towels together is not automatically unhygienic, but separating towels exposed to raw meat or heavy grease is the safer choice.
