My name is Mark Lindgren. I’m thirty-eight years old, and I’ve been farming the same six hundred acres in O’Brien County, Iowa, since I was nineteen.Corn and beans, mostly. Some years a little oats for the cover crop. Black dirt so rich it looks like coffee grounds when you turn it over in spring. The kind of ground people’s great-grandparents broke with horses and a walking plow.My great-grandfather was one of them.
